Episode 711 – Cell Phone Tips
[00:00:08] Welcome to Screw the Commute. The entrepreneurial podcast dedicated to getting you out of the car and into the money, with your host, lifelong entrepreneur and multimillionaire, Tom Antion.
[00:00:24] Hey everybody, it's Tom here with episode 711 of Screw the Commute Podcast. Today, we're going to talk about cell phone tips. Now, I haven't done one of these episodes for a while, and if you're new to the podcast and you want to learn a bunch of cell phone tips to make you lightning fast on your phone and tablet, well, here are the back episodes on cell phone tips. And of course, they'll be in the show notes. Episode 367 415 472 508 528 549 573 595 and 627. This is 711. Now, anytime you want to get to a back episode, you go to screwthecommute.com, slash, the episode number. And I just gave him to you and they'll be in the show notes. All right. I hope you didn't miss episode 710 that was on video lighting. I've been lighting video for, I don't know, 43, 44 years. And I got my initial training in Hollywood. And since then I've had retired people teaching from Hollywood, teaching me even more stuff. And, and so on episode 710, you get a bunch of tips that today can make your videos look way better with just simple lighting techniques and tricks. And listen to this. I've also included a technique to make you look 20 years younger instantly. All right. Now, if you're only 20 years old, maybe it doesn't work so well. But check that out. Episode 710. Follow me on TikTok at tiktok.com/@digitalmultimillionaire.
[00:02:11] One of the videos is I think passed 620,000 views this morning and it's really going strong and I like shooting those short videos I can knock out a bunch of them and if you want to check them out, I got probably 220 little short training videos that give you all kinds of ideas. Some of them are funny, but most of them are training.
[00:02:32] All right, let's get to the main event, cell phone and tablet automation techniques. And here's the first one. It's called Safari Safari Auto Scroll. And it can slowly scroll your screen. When you're reading a long article or blog post, you can adjust the speed of the scroll to suit your reading speed so you don't have to be swiping the whole time. You can just sit it there and let it scroll. All right, next one. Now, did you ever want to show somebody a photo and it took you 5 minutes to scroll through thousands of pictures on your phone? All right. Well, you got to learn how to use albums. And so I'm going to have a link in there on how to make an album. Basically, you're making an album and you can have photos in more than one album, but that way you can find them really fast when you want to show them to somebody or look at them yourself. Don't have the links to that in the in the show notes.
[00:03:27] All right. Now, here's another thing to extend your battery life. You can turn on low power mode and this can extend your battery life to many more hours than it is now. And I think I got the instructions on an iPhone. And if you're Android, if you're new here and your Android, take the idea that I talk about. So I don't use Android. You know, I use iPhone. But most of the things you can do on an Android, too, it's just I don't know the directions on how to do it, but get the idea and then go seek out on YouTube or somewhere the directions. But anyway, for low battery low power mode, go to settings battery low power mode and then continue. Your phone is not going to grab mail automatically real fast in the background or refresh apps automatically or, you know, all kinds of stuff. So some of the things are reduced, but you can use your cell phone power will last way longer. All right. Next one is called location based Reminders. I can't tell you the number of times I drove somewhere to do something. And then came home and I said, Oh, man, I should have. I was right there. I should have done this other thing. Right. So you can set up your phone to remind you when you are in a certain area. Other things that you'd want to do while you were there makes you really efficient.
[00:04:55] You know, I had to make another trip all the way 20 minutes across town and back, Shot another hour, hour and a half. When if I had to just set that location based reminder, I'd have knocked both of those things out on the same trip and had plenty of more time to play with my dogs or sell stuff. That's location based reminder. All right. Next thing is focus mode, so you can create different iPhone home screens. And pages that show only what you want to see while you're in focus mode. So this kind of allows you to avoid distractions and worries about missed notifications while you're trying to focus on other things. So use that focus mode and you won't be distracted when you have only things in front of you that you want to work with. All right. Next thing is interesting thing called a full page screenshot. So instead of taking a screenshot and then scrolling down, taking another one and taking another one and then trying to paste them together, I mean, it's crazy. This will let you save your screenshot as a PDF and get the whole page. So I think this is in Safari and like I said, I don't know how to do it on Android, but you take a screenshot, then you tap on preview thumbnail of the screenshot and then tap full page at the top of the screen and tap done and it saves a PDF to your files.
[00:06:23] A lot of times it might take a minute or so to process, but then you get the whole page. So full page screenshots. Now making your phone vibrate. Well, you might be in a quiet or noisy environment. Either one turning on your iPhone's vibrate mode can help alert you to incoming calls and texts, and you can enable vibrate mode while your iPhone is silenced or in addition to a ringtone. It's pretty easy. You go to settings Sound and haptics vibrate on ring or vibrate on silent, and you'll get four notifications. So you've got two options there. So make it vibrate and give yourself a thrill. I just do that in. All right. This is one. I thought this was a joke. Tell you the truth. But it's triple and double tap on the back side of your phone. I really thought it was a joke to make you look stupid, But it isn't, and I love it. So you probably didn't realize you can tap on the back side of your iPhone. I'm not kidding. You can actually tap on the backside of your iPhone to make it do certain things. The way I found out about this was I wanted an easier way to lock my screen rotation. I'm sure many of you have experienced a picture or video or text you wanted to look at, and the screen was vertical and you wanted it horizontal or vice versa. Well, here's what I found out. You can either double tap or triple tap the back of your iPhone to lock the screen orientation without going into your control panel.
[00:08:06] Actually, you can do tons of things with this double and triple tap because the instructions are all the same. So here's what you do. You go to Settings Accessibility Touch. Back tap. And at this point, you can choose double tap or triple tap. So I chose double Tap and it took me to a screen that had a whole bunch of options of what I could make the double tap do, like mute or open the camera or turn on the flashlight and a bunch more. So I chose lock rotation. And I tried it out and it worked instantly. And then I went back to screen and clicked on triple tap, and I connected it to my flashlight. Now, you can also tell Siri to turn on your flashlight, but this is even easier. So here's the deal. The more efficient you are with your technology, the more money you will make. It's as simple as that. I mean, if you take ten times longer to do simple operations on your computer or cell phones and tablets and the day's going to be gone by, you know, already going and you didn't do anything that actually brings money in. So take the time to learn these shortcuts and check out all the other episodes. And and for God's sake, download and implement the ideas in my free automation e-book that I give out on these on almost all of these podcasts, you go to screwthecommute.com/automatefree.
[00:09:42] And I mean, just one of the tips in that book saved 8 million keystrokes we estimated.
