Episode 367 – Cell Phone Automation
[00:00:09] Welcome to Screw the Commute. The entrepreneurial podcast dedicated to getting you out of the car and into the money, with your host, lifelong entrepreneur and multimillionaire, Tom Antion.

[00:00:24] Hey, everybody it's Tom here with episode three hundred and sixty seven of Screw the commute podcast. Today, we're going to talk about cell phone automation and what it can do to highly speed up all kinds of crazy stuff it'll do for you if you just pay attention to a little bit. There's external apps, there's internal apps that make this happen on your cell phone and you will be thrilled to death. If you get some of these things going, it'll really save you a lot of time. And I hope you didn't miss Episode 368. That was Alain Burrese. So he's a good friend of mine, one of the few people on this earth I would trust my life to. He's a fifth degree then in Hapkido. I think his fifth or eighth degree, I can't remember. But he is a former Army sniper. I mean, he's a bad dude, right? And he's a great friend of mine, one of my teachers in martial arts. And he's talking about something totally different this time. And this is how he got tons of free stuff doing reviews for Amazon. Now it's changed significantly. He's actually quit doing it and you'll find out why. But it's still a way to get a lot of inexpensive stuff just by writing reviews. And how would you like to hear your own voice here on Screw the Commute? Well, if the show's helped you out at all in your business or giving your ideas to help you start a business, we want to hear about it. Visit, screwthecommute.com and look for a little blue sidebar that says send a voicemail, click on it, talk into your phone or computer and tell me how the shows helped you make sure you put your website in there because you'll get a big shout out and a future episode of Screw the Commute while you're over there.

[00:02:09] Hey, since we're talking about automation today, you got to download my automation ebook. We sell this thing for twenty seven bucks, but it's just free for listening to the show. And it has. We figured it out. I'm not kidding. Some of you heard me say this over and over. We figured it out. It's just one of the tips in there. I'll tell you what it is. It's from Short Keys. The is the program has saved me seven and a half million keystrokes, saved me carpal tunnel syndrome. You got to download this thing. It just makes you work lightning fast. See, the problem is people won't take the time to what they call sharpen the axe. That's the old fable about, you know, sharpen the axe in this big contest of cutting trees down. One guy's beating the heck out of the tree and his axe is all double killing himself. Other guys just sitting there sharpening his axe and then cuts the tree that really fast. All right. That fable really hits home with me because I see so many people just beating the heck out of their computer and wasting time doing stuff over and over and over again because they won't take the time to automate themselves. And I'm harping on this a little extra today, because this is what this episode is about, is automating yourself. It's made me a fortune. I've gotten customers that other people didn't get back to them fast enough.

[00:03:36] I got back to them lightning fast and they went with me and gave me the money. OK, do you understand this concept to I have to come to your house and beat you with a ball bat to get it. Take the time to learn these things and I'm giving it to you for free. So go to screwthecommute.com/automatefree, download it, pick something you like and implement it to day. Do it. All right. Hey, why you're over there. Pick pick up a copy of our podcast app at screwthecommute.com/app and you can put it on your cell phone tablet. Take us with you on the road. It does a bunch of things automatically for you. So this is all about automation, folks.

[00:04:23] All right. Another thing I want you to automatically do is either join my school, my mentor program, or get your kids into it. You if you're supposed to be smart parents out there, if your parents are, you're supposed to be smart business people out there. And I just see so many people coming to me, they bought so much junk that's worthless because they didn't know any better. And I don't blame you for that. You don't know any better. And you're trying. But you got to be smart about it. I mean, with this money you spend with me has nothing compared to what you'll blow or just quit altogether because you don't know what you're doing. And there's millions of shysters out there. I mean, my school that I'm talking about right now, I had to go through three years of licensing, background checks, curriculum checks, everything, financial checks to make sure it was good, solid stuff because so many for profit schools were ripping people off with crappy education. So check my school out at IMTCVA.org. And a little bit later, I'll tell you how you can get a full scholarship to the school if you're in my mentor program.

[00:05:34] All right. Let's get to the main event. Now, before I get to the main event, I want to give you a big warning, OK? Don't mess up your cell phone. Some of the the really more sophisticated automation programs can mess with you and your operating system. So that doesn't mean I want you to discourage you from doing this. That means that just be careful, make sure you watch lots of YouTube videos. And if you get one that's, you know, some of them like really you need to be an engineer to operate, get the easy ones to start out so that you can get some success from this without messing up your cell phone. Some of them are dummified so no matter what you do, you can't mess things up. But anyway, automating tasks with your cell phone can be highly effective, highly efficient timesaver and wildly improve your productivity. I mean, it's just crazy what these things will do. So right now, I'm just going to give you a taste of the wild things these automation apps can do. And you'll have to pick ones that have the best features for the things that you want to do. And new ones are coming out all the time. This episode is to whet your whistle to get you interested in pursuing this. Then I recommend you dig in and research the apps that are easiest for you to use and they get the job done that you really want to get done.

[00:07:00] Every everybody's different, you know, things that I want to automate. You would say that's I don't care about. And the same I don't care about some of the things you would want to automate. But there's apps available for both Android and Apple to do this, and some of them are built into your phones.

[00:07:17] Now, here's here's a crazy list of just some of the things these apps can do and how they work. I mean, it's amazing to me it must be magic or voodoo or something. I don't know. For instance, you can have your cell phone automatically go silent when you walk into a movie theater. OK, that's crazy, right? How about an automatic text to go out to your wife or husband or significant other when you've arrived at a destination?

[00:07:46] Your how about your cell phone can automatically go into airplane mode and battery saver when you board an airplane.

[00:07:53] Ma'am, I don't know, maybe you have to hit one button. I don't really know, I didn't use that one yet because nobody flying anymore anyway. And it could do the same thing every night when you go to bed, put it in the airplane mode, battery saver, and then reconnect every 30 minutes to grab messages while you're sleeping. So they'll be there in the morning for you.

[00:08:15] Now, here's a cool one, when you get a call from a loud voiced friend or loudmouth friend, your phone recognizes that person and reduces the volume for you. It can reduce the volume when you plug in headphones, that's simple one.

[00:08:32] Now, check this one out, there's some guy programmed using an app called Tasker for Android.

[00:08:39] So he created a face down, quiet mode that kills the volume on his phone and shuts down wifi, Bluetooth and GPS when he turns his phone face down crazy. I got a lot of these from Lifehacker.com and I'm going to put a link in the show notes for you. That's that one's primarily Android, the article that the first link from Lifehacker. I guess how it works is that the Tasker app watches for things that happen on your cell phone or in your environment or where you are, things like that. And then it makes an action or task, which is a list of actions.

[00:09:23] You tell it you want it to do so. It sees something happening and then it kicks in this automation sequence for you like like turn it on the airplane mode and turn it on battery saver without you digging through all the menus. Now there's another app you might want to check out called If Then. Then that if then then that it's IFTTT, it also recognises certain actions and kicks in a series of responses that you tell it to. I mean, do you realize the power of this, folks? I mean, you set things up once and then it does that action for you forever, automatically. I see so many people who refuse to take the time to work on some automation because it is this stupid stuff because they say, well, they don't have the time. You see how ridiculous that statement is. You won't take a couple hours now to save hundreds of hours in the future. All right. Or thousands of hours over a long period of time. And it's that's the way it's worked for me now. It's no wonder you think you don't have time to work on automation techniques if if you won't do the things that save you the time. It's crazy talk. So make sure you download that serious automation ebook I give you. Screwthecommute.com/automatefree, just pick one thing and implement it and I guarantee you'll thank me for it. All right. Now you have all kinds of home automation you can tie to your cell phone. There's a thing called home kit.

[00:11:00] And I put a YouTube video link in here to tell you all about home kit. It gives you a smart home, automation things. And many are tied to your cell phone. Now, Apple is improving its automation all the time. How about this? When your alarm goes off in the morning, Siri gives you the weather, what calendar events you have for the day and maybe the stock market results for your favorite stocks and maybe your kid's birthday reminder. I don't know. I mean, you can make it do just about anything you want. Then you have time based automation shortcuts, let's say at noon every day you want to turn on a radio or at random times you want different lights to go on and off at your house between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. or something like that. You can make it do just about anything you want. Now, here's a cool where's my wallet? It alerts you if your cell phone gets too far from your wallet or purse or you can set it to locate your wallet or purse. You can also have a panic button that sends alerts or calls 911 one if you feel threatened or maybe you're shaken up from a car accident and you just, you know, you can't think straight. You just hit the panic button. Now, if you have an older iOS device, you can put it to good use and have an automation server in your house using the app called Push Cuts.

[00:12:35] You need an old iPad or iPhone running all the time and it gives you even more capabilities. Now, you look look up all these things on Google and YouTube. There's plenty of people showing you exactly what these things will do and how to use them.

[00:12:51] Now, here's another good YouTube video I have for you in the show. Notes is called 17 Siri Shortcuts. It's this guy's favorites, but it gives you a feel for all the stuff you could be doing. One is listen to this one. This is called Meet Halfway. So you and your friend want to meet for a drink. It gives you all the restaurants halfway between you two, wherever you happen to be. Oh, man, I can't believe it does all this stuff. Another one I like is Safari Auto Scroll.

[00:13:27] It can slowly scroll your screen when you're reading a long article or blog post. You don't have to use your fingers, does keep scroll and then it adjusts the speed of the scroll to suit your reading speed. And if you get behind, you can just swipe the screen and it'll, you know, back up a little bit and keep on scrolling.

[00:13:47] Amazing. Now here's one that's a little bit black hat. All right. Don't tell anybody I told you about it, but it's called UnPayWall.

[00:14:01] Have you ever been trying to read an article on The Wall Street Journal or New York Times or something like that? And they want to make you subscribe and they just show you a couple of paragraphs of the article? Well, this don't tell anybody this this app or this automation thing on paywall will eliminate that. So you can read the article. I don't know if that's theft or what it is. I'm not using it. I'm just telling you about it.

[00:14:28] How about you can shoot a video and it can automatically post to your Facebook or Twitters, that kind of stuff?

[00:14:35] Basically, the list is endless, and if you dream up things you want your phone to do or are a pain in the neck for you, every time you have to look through a bunch of menus, I'm pretty sure you can automate it where it does it automatically or by one simple voice command or the press or one button.

[00:14:54] I mean, that's what it will do now in 2019 as part of iOS 13 on an iPhone, maybe you didn't notice, but you have a shortcuts app as part of your operating system. Lets look at it is probably on your screen one of your your your open screens. And it's it's just the little things that shortcuts. It has a bunch of standard shortcuts that you can keep or delete or you can make your own right on your iPhone without any external apps. And maybe that's a good place to start. If you have an iPhone, there's and there's plenty of YouTube videos to show you how to use it. So here's the deal. It's highly worth it to take a little time to automate repetitive task. The excuse that I just can't figure it out or I don't have the time that just doesn't fly anymore.

[00:15:48] I mean, they're piles and piles of instructions on YouTube. Or you can always say wake a young child up from his nap at preschool to get him to help you, you know, but could quit crying the blues and try to give an excuse. I'm too old. I can't do this B.S. We got 80 some year old people doing this stuff and and teaching me stuff. So I don't want to hear it. I mean, nobody busier than me. And part of my success is using automation to help me take care of customers faster and reduce my busy workload. I mean, busy work workload that could easily be automated, which gives me more time to take care of customers.

[00:16:31] And that's where the money comes right now. If you want help doing all this stuff, join my mentor program.

[00:16:37] It's the longest running, most successful, most unique program ever. I've triple dog dared people to put a program up against mine and compare them and nobody will do it because mine blows them away. All right. The service that I give, the attitude that I have for my company to help people is outrageous. I'm available one on one with people along with my entire staff, and it won't cost you an arm and a leg like a lot of the other people wanting to charge 50 or 100 grand up front. No, I don't get my big money unless you're successful. So, you know, you're going to disappear on you like a lot of these people. And you have a visit to the retreat center when the pandemic's over. You have time in my TV studio where we shoot high definition videos, marketing videos for you. We teach a video, we teach. I mean, everything you can think of, we have a resource for it and teach you will take over your screen. Everything is one on one will show you where to click, how to do this stuff will cut your learning curve to almost nothing.

[00:17:47] And like I said, you don't pay big money.

[00:17:52] Unless you make super big money, that's the way my thing is structured, that's why 7500 students over 20 years have flocked to this thing with no refunds and no chargebacks and no lawsuits and nothing because we take care of people. The big other big kicker that's unique is if you're in my mentor program, you get a scholarship to my school that you can either use yourself for extra training or gift to to someone in your life, could be a niece and nephew, grandchild, your own kids. I mean, it's the best thing you could ever do for them to keep them out of debt or you mortgaged your house to pay for this four year college rip off stuff that's going on, that they teach them nothing except how to protest. And then they're competing for jobs at Starbucks with their MBA, you know, so so I'm just making me sick. And it's not just me talking. I mean, this is all over the news. Major news sources are talking about this. What's going on with colleges just ripping people off because their fees are going up way faster than any reasonable thing on Earth. And with easy money for lending for college, they have no reason to stop. They just keep raising the fees outrageously. Some of them are making you work at home, but they won't refund your activities fee, you know, because of this pandemic. I mean, just total rip off. These people would be in jail if they weren't colleges are I got to tell you that with my fraud anti fraud background. So anyway, getting my mentor program will cut your learning curve. You'll you know, you'll you'll spend way less money with me than you'll blow in in lost sales and not knowing what you're doing and wasted purchases of software and stuff because you don't know what you're doing.

[00:19:44] I'll take care of that for you. All right. So that's this thing. Go out and automate, automate, automate. If you haven't downloaded my book, screwthecommute.com/automatefree, pick something today and implement it and you will thank me.

[00:20:01] All right. We'll catch you on the next episode. See ya later.
