Now also, I said this as advanced, but this also at the end of this episode, I'm going to have a technique that you could be your first day on Pinterest and I don't know within a day or so. You could have thousands and thousands of views with this really, really cool technique. So hang in there for that. [00:04:36] All right. Let's get to the main event. This is some advanced stuff for Pinterest doesn't necessarily mean that they're hard to do. It's just that most people stop too soon after getting a basic account, and they don't maximize it. See, going further past what the typical person does makes you look really good to Pinterest algorithm and can get you what is called priority distribution. In other words, if your pins are good. Pinterest makes a special effort to distribute them to more people. All right. Here's the first one, these are no particular order. A video for your profile, see, most people have a static image for their profile. Now you can up your game and grab more attention from your profile with a short video, and you can see an example of this on my profile at pinterest.com Tom Antion. No spaces in there. Now you've got to be logged in to see my video. You can see my face and information, but if you're logged in, you'll see the video. So be a good time if you don't have an account to get one now, and the video's just very short with little segments that highlight many of the things I do, so not that hard to create. Ok, next subject group boards see group boards are boards you can either start or belong to where multiple people pin their stuff. In other words, they help each other, and many of them have rules like if you pin something to the group board, then you have to rippin something from that board onto one of your boards. Now, this used to be the biggest, baddest way, and it's still good, but Pinterest is leaning now toward you, putting out fresh content more than just rehashes of your old content, although you can do that, and I explained that in a previous episode.
[00:06:38] At any rate, it's worth looking into. And right now, I'll tell you about another advanced program that does way more than just help you collaborate with others. And that is tailwind. This is a program that's they have a free version and a paid version, and it has three major features that are just crazy, powerful and a lot of the top Pinterest people use this. So here's the three things one. It'll create pins for you. You can if you're worried about being graphically oriented, forget it. This is it's a thing of the past. So what you can do is upload one or more photos or they have thousands of stock photos that you can upload just by whatever topic you're into. And then you put a piece of short text in and tailwind kicks out hundreds of professional designs, and you can use it for more than Pinterest. I mean, it'll work for, I think, Instagram and Facebook and so forth with different, different sized graphics. You just tell what size you want. So anyway, you upload the photos and a couple of words of text, and then five seconds later, you have hundreds of designs to pick from and each one of them, if you wanted to tweak it or edit it a little bit, they have their own editor right there and very easy.
[00:08:09] You can move a picture or change the text or do something for each one. Amazingly powerful. All right, so that's the first thing it'll create all these pins for you. Number two is scheduling. The tailwind is a partner with Pinterest, and even though you can schedule one pin at a time on Pinterest. Tailwind can schedule hundreds of pins going out a couple weeks or a month or even more, I guess I don't know. I've never gone past that. And many top Pinterest people, but once you learn how to do it, spend only about four hours a month working on their pins and then they let tailwind, create and schedule them out for a month in advance and it brings. I mean, sometimes a million. Clicks to their websites and, you know, in a month, I mean, it's just amazingly powerful. And then number three, I was just telling you about group boards. They have their own communities, I think they call them tribes. And it's similar to the group boards, but people seem to like them better and they're right inside the tailwind program. So it's all combined right there and they are a partner with Pinterest. So they don't they they kind of warn you if you do anything wrong, it's just a powerful, powerful program. So if you want massive distribution and minimum work, once you learn how to use it, tailwind is the way to go.
[00:09:39] And the only downside I've seen so far is they can't build the Typekit graphics, which are super powerful. You want to do them every once in a while, too. And that's what you learn about in the Daniel Hall and John Kremer webinar. So got to watch that webinar. I mean, I've been pushing this webinar harder than anything I've pushed in a long time because it is so good, and in a couple of weeks, I've gone from 500 views a month to thirty thousand now, a thirty one thousand. I think as of today when I'm recording this and and I'm only fooling with a part time from what I just learned in the webinar. So, so very powerful. All right. Next thing analytics say, see if you have the free business account rather than a personal account, Pinterest has really great analytics and what it does, it'll show you which pins are doing the best, so you can do more of that kind of pin in the future and eliminate the ones that don't seem to resonate with your audience. And it can also be broken down by age, gender, location and a bunch of other parameters. So you see who your audience really is, and as over time, you can cater and cater more to your exact audience. And just amazing, and you can go buy impressions. In other words, how many times your your pin was seen? And you can also just click a button and it'll tell you how many actual clicks got on your pin and then how many you can do another thing that says how many clicks to your website or wherever you're sending people.
[00:11:18] So amazing analytics just for the free business account. All right, advertising, you can advertise on Pinterest, and it's way less complicated than the other platforms, and it's way cheaper. Because it's a newer platform, you know, it kind of reminds me in the early days of Facebook and Google when it was really easy and cheap. So I don't care why it's behind, but it's it's a very cheap place to advertise. I'm going to end at the end. I'm going to show you this super technique that you will not believe this to. You could be your first day. And by the second day, have thousands and thousands of views for, like, really super cheap. All right. And it's with regard to advertising, but you won't believe there's the competition is almost zero. And so that means it's way cheaper. So I'll tell you about that at the end, if you hang in till the end. Ok? Let's now talk about a couple types of pins that will set you apart from the crowd. Everybody can make the simple ones. So if you once in a while go for these more advanced ones and one of them, they're automatically advanced just by putting a piece of code on your website. All right. So the first one is called an idea pen, and it was it was formally called a story pin.
[00:12:47] And these are pins where you can put video you can voice over, you can put music, you can do it all right on your cell phone if you want and still shots and together to tell a story. I just made one show and how to protect your head. All right. For my brutal self defense site. And I showed a little bit of a video and a voiceover telling people what they were seeing on the video. Put some still shots in and then also another cool thing with the idea pins is you can put notes in and then people can download the notes. And so I I recapped the technique to protect your head in a self-defense situation because if you get, I came up with a quote of my own. If you get knocked unconscious, unconscionable things will happen to you. All right. So you've got to protect your head. So I put the steps in the notes and then people can save the notes in these kinds of pens. These are called idea or story pens, and they're relatively new. So if you jump on and do the idea pins again, you're going to get priority distribution, in other words. It's a fairly new feature, so you'll be shown to more people than you normally would because you created that kind of pin. All right, in the next kind of pin is called a rich pin, so rich pins allow you to include extra information in your pin that's extracted from your website.
[00:14:24] Now, your pin title also shows up in the viewer's feet wearing a regular pin, it's just whatever's on the pin or the graphic, but in a rich pin, there's a little line that shows the title to your pin. And so that gets extra attention. Also, the pin will stay updated if you're if your website changes, so let's say you have a product and you change the price. The PIN will be updated automatically. And also, there's other things with rich pins, it gets big, bold text, and it stands out more for the person that's seeing a lot of pins. This one jumps off the page more and using these again, as I mentioned in a previous Pinterest episodes, sends an even bigger message to Pinterest that you are a serious content producer. And this is where you have to get a little geek work done on your site so that you can include what is called metadata that the rich pin will use to keep your pins updated. And don't let this worry you, any geek could do this easily in 15 15 minutes. All right, to put this thing on on your website for metadata. You just have to remember to fill in a couple more blanks about whatever content you're putting on your site, and then that's all instantly, automatically updated on Pinterest, even if it was months and months ago that you put the pin up.
[00:16:00] All right, so rich pin. So idea pins and rich pins are ways that a little advance, but not that hard to do and get you way ahead of the pack. All right, now, the next thing is ranking order. Now you've heard me, if you've listened to this podcast for a while, you know, I'm a total crazy stickler on keywords and how powerful they are for you. And the payback on keyword research is so enormous because you use them everywhere. Here's another example. So I'm going to give you the ranking order. I think this is according to Pinterest, but most of us that know a little bit know that this is the case of where you put keywords when you're making a pin. Well, your pin title is the highest ranking one to put keywords, and then you have a pin description where it's more telling people more detail about what the pin is about. That needs keywords. Then the URL of where you're sending people, you're always sending people. I mean, you should be from a pin to a website or blog or YouTube or, you know, one of your YouTube videos, wherever you're doing. The URL is important to have keywords in it. I think, you know, it's hard for you to manipulate the YouTube one, but you could send them to your website and then have the YouTube video there if you really wanted to, to use a YouTube video. The board name, so when you're naming your boards, you should think about keywords, so that's a ranking order for Pinterest.
[00:17:43] Your board description should have key words in it, so all this lines up to make you look like, Hey, this is a great pen on this certain subject because those keywords are all in these places. The destination page title, if you've listened to any of my things about just basic, simple search engine optimization, your title tag is like one of the highest, most important things on your websites or blogs, and so that's what a destination page title is. So Pinterest looks at all this stuff before they see how high to raise your pin and the results when somebody's searching. Because remember, I've mentioned this earlier in other episodes. Pinterest is a search engine, you know, so it's a visually oriented search engine, so you have to play the search engine game to a certain extent. And then this other one is kind of a fancy kind of term pin cohesion that basically means how consistent are you with your topic and your, you know, the things that you pin? Are you giving good quality information all the time or are you just putting slop up there? Can engagement, which you know, all the all the places want engagement, but it's not the highest on the list for Pinterest, they're interested in beautiful images. That's their emphasis overall. You know, the more engagement you get, the better. Now, one thing you don't want to do is to create a bunch of images with the same text, but only a slightly different image.
[00:19:24] You know, like you move it over half an inch and say, OK, it's different. You know, they're going to appear in the search results or on your boards, and they're going to look so almost identical that it's going to make a poor experience for users. They're not going to stay as long and it can look kind of spammy. So with the tool like tailwind, you don't have to do that. You can spit out. I mean, you can't believe I'm just scrolling. Scrolling through hundreds of the hardest thing was to pick which four or five or 10 of them that I wanted to use because they were so beautiful. Now some of them are weird, where a box of text will go over your face or something. Or, you know, then you just move it around or else, you know, delete that, that image, you know, but it's just amazing how powerful these tools are. All right now, before I give you the super duper scooper technique, scooper is not really part of the the the description of the technique. I just want to remind you about the the program for the persons with disabilities. I mean something. It was one of my proudest things and I've raised a lot of money for animals and homeless children and all kinds of things. But I'll tell you what, I'm really I think this is my my the thing I'm most proud of because some of the things I've done in the past, you know, raised a lot of money, but it was kind of like a Band-Aid.
[00:20:48] What happens when that money ran out? What? What then? In this case, we're giving people tools to change their life forever, and you can't believe when I was doing the research on this, the suicide rate and the depression rate and the unemployment rate in the disabled community. So I said, you know what? I got the ability to do something about this. I'm going to I'm going to start this program. So love to have your help with it, something you can be really proud of. To support these people and get them hired and get them. I'm not saying these people, but I mean, many disabled people are on welfare rolls and you know, so, so some you can really be proud of. Ok, let me get into this last super duper technique for you, where you could be the first day on Pinterest. Do your research and within a day or so, have thousands and thousands of visitors dirt cheap to your websites and blogs and whatever you want. All right, this has to do with a technique that people like me that have been around for a while and know the ins and outs have been using for years, but nobody, hardly anybody knows about it.
[00:22:18] It's hardly taught anywhere. And it's using misspellings. To advertise, so here's here's the deal you're going to advertise for your ad to show up when people type in common misspellings. Now you have to do this exactly, as I tell you, to get the benefit. And I would start doing it now because other pay per click venues in other places, it's becoming less effective and I'll tell you why later. So here's what you're going to do. This will be in the show notes the link. You're going to go to tools.seobook.com/spelling/keywords-typos.cgi. All right, you don't want to remember that from hearing it. You can just click on it in, the show notes. Now you're going to put a word or phrase that applies to your stuff. And the site is going to generate a massive list of misspellings. Ok, and you're going to copy that list, and I suggest just saving it into a notepad or, you know, you should have a file and a backed up file also on all the keyword research you've done since I've been hammering you about it. You haven't done it. Get busy and do it because that's the key to my success keyword or it's the key to my success. Ok, now you're going to use a different free tool.
[00:23:52] Called keywordmatchtypetool.com. Now, all the different match types and advertising is too deep a discussion for today. But here's what you do, and then I'll tell you at least why you're going to do it. So you're going to paste your list of misspellings from the one tool into the keyword match type site and you're going to check the box. It says, Separator, you're going to check space. Just do what I tell you. All right. And for match type, you're going to type exact match. What this is going to do when you make the tool, do its work. It's going to put brackets around each of your misspellings in your list and the list I just did the other day was thousand three hundred phrases. Now, there may be a way in Excel or something that you could put the brackets in or something, I don't know, but this this tool was like, you don't have to have any brains at all to use it, you just plop it in there, check those two boxes and it kicks out the brackets. See, exact match always has brackets. You definitely want to have exact match as brackets around the key or the keyword phrase. So why do you do this? Well, if you don't, the search engine part of Pinterest is going to see the term. And let's say there was a misspelling in the keyword phrase.
[00:25:27] Let's say your keyword phrase was Thanksgiving dinner ideas. Maybe the misspelling said ranks giving with an R, ranks giving dinner ideas, or maybe it said RH. In other words, they just hit R instead of T for Thanksgiving. So Pinterest and the other places you may advertise are smart enough to ignore the misspelling and show your ad for the normally correctly spelled phrase Thanksgiving dinner ideas. So why is this important to know? See, because the correctly spelled phrase, the clicks are going to be more expensive than the misspelled phrase because hardly anybody knows this technique, so no one is bidding on the misspellings. So Pinterest will give those clicks to you. Way cheaper. Remember, we're talking exact match here. You have to tell Pinterest, I want to only bid on this exact misspelled phrase. I don't want you to go figure out what they really meant. I want to only bid on the misspelling. So you take your list from the keyword match type tool after it has the brackets on it, and you paste that into the keyword section when you advertise on Pinterest. So when someone types that misspelling your ad can show, and if they click on it, you get a visitor to your site or affiliate product or whatever you're promoting. Way cheaper right now, if you if you need to listen to that section again, do it because that can mean thousands of visitors to you. Dirt cheap. It's a great technique. Like I said, I I mean, I just got tired because it was late at night when I just ran this last thing and I quit it 2300 words.
[00:27:32] I could have gone for ten thousand twenty thousand misspellings if I had the time or to just do the searches, but I was exhausted. So I've been doing this for years. Like I said, it's not as effective in the major search engines that are further ahead than Pinterest, but it still works like crazy here. So I'd say, do it now if you're ever going to do it and learn how to do it because it is an effective way to go to the top of the heap. When everybody else and all the geeks and everybody are trying to go for the biggest keyword phrases, you're going to have less people typing those misspellings, but you're not competing with hardly anybody, so you'll be at the top of the line. All right, that's my story. And I'm sticking to it. Go out and do your Pinterest thing, but make sure you listen to the webinar with John Kremer and Daniel Hall. I mean, you take a take an hour and a half to do it, and I'll tell you what, you will thank me because this is I've been putting enormous effort into this lately because the the power of it, it's just a crazy, powerful and not as complicated as a lot of the other places that you know, I have to do business.
