SUMMARY BY CHATGPT
Summary
In this episode, Tom Antion explains how entrepreneurs can quickly build authority and credibility in a crowded marketplace without spending decades establishing a reputation. The main strategy is borrowing trust from people or organizations that already have authority and audiences. By leveraging these relationships, entrepreneurs can gain visibility and credibility faster, leading to increased trust and sales.
________________________________________
Key Idea
Authority can be accelerated by leveraging other people’s audiences, credibility, and platforms rather than trying to build everything from scratch.
________________________________________
Main Authority Shortcuts
1. Podcast Guesting
Appearing as a guest on podcasts allows you to reach new audiences quickly and build credibility.
• Podcasts are easy to join remotely.
• Repeated appearances strengthen reputation.
• Hosts lend their credibility to you.
2. Guest Appearances (Media)
Interviews on radio, TV, or online media help build recognition and trust.
3. Joint Ventures
Partnering with someone who already has an audience allows you to promote your product or service to their followers in exchange for a commission.
4. Testimonials
Collect testimonials from people you have helped.
These provide social proof and increase trust in your expertise.
5. Media Logos
Displaying logos of publications, podcasts, or platforms where you have appeared helps establish credibility on your website.
6. Trading Collaborations
Cross-promote with others who have audiences:
• Promote each other’s products
• Share email lists
• Collaborate on content
7. Long-Form Interviews
Interview recognized experts on your website or blog.
This association with established authorities raises your credibility.
8. Data and Case Studies
Publishing detailed statistics and case studies increases believability.
Specific data is more persuasive than vague claims.
9. Partnerships
Strategic partnerships can increase authority, especially with well-known organizations.
However, partnerships must be carefully structured with clear agreements.
10. Summits and Events
Participating in online summits or conferences positions you as a vetted expert and exposes you to large audiences.

Core Lesson
Entrepreneurs can rapidly build credibility by strategically associating with trusted people, platforms, and organizations, rather than trying to establish authority entirely on their own.

💡 One practical takeaway:
Start by guest appearing on podcasts in your niche, because it is one of the easiest and fastest ways to access other people’s audiences and build authority.

Episode 1092 – Authority Shortcuts
[00:00:08] Welcome to Screw the Commute. The entrepreneurial podcast dedicated to getting you out of the car and into the money, with your host, lifelong entrepreneur and multimillionaire, Tom Antion.
[00:00:24] Hey everybody. It's Tom here with episode 1092 of Screw the Commute podcast. Today we're going to show you how to become an authority in a hurry. In other words, we're going to call this authority shortcuts and hope you didn't miss episode 1091. That was digital sharecropping. That's where you're really at risk by building lots of people and lots of your contacts, other than on an email list or a blog of yours or something that you control. So very dangerous. So that's episode 1091. Anytime you want to get to a back episode, you go to screwthecommute.com, slash, then the episode number. Also pick up a copy of my automation book at screwthecommute.com/automatefree and version 3.0 is the latest. And let's see what else. Check out my mentor program at greatinternetmarketingtraining.com. And my school IMTCVA.org. Now guess what? You are right in the middle of the AI summit. You can still have time to, to jump on and learn crazy amounts about AI in one place and my session alone, which you may have missed. You might have to get the premium pass to see my session will just blow you away, right? Because all the simple non-techy things you can do to use AI to really make money and save money and save time and oh, just amazing things. So go over and register at screwthecommute.com/aisummit and when you register, you're going to get a freebie of my podcasting masterclass.
[00:02:13] So check it out. All right, let's talk about authority shortcuts. You know, first of all, it's a crowded marketplace out there. It's hard to, to get known and, and to move up the ranks other than spending 32 years like I have doing. Okay. What you're going to be doing is borrowing trust and you're going to leverage other people's audiences to raise your authority in the marketplace and get known and have people trust you, so they spend money with you. That's the whole bottom line here in this being an entrepreneur. So that's not the only bottom line. It's having a great lifestyle. And that's my favorite part about it is I don't have to deal with anybody I don't like. That's that's really my favorite after the money. All right. So some ways you can do that. Well podcast Guesting is great. I mean, I do a whole. Well, that's the masterclass I'm giving away to teach you how to be a great podcast guest where people really want you over and over again. I've been on as many as 13 times on one show. All right. So, so that's enormous credibility and reach to people that never heard of you before. So guest appearances and radio, TV, whatever you can land, but podcasting is relatively easy.
[00:03:38] You can do it from your home. Even the TV interviews now you can do from your home. So used to be that's a big production to go to the studio, which is nice and fun, but a big, big hassle for me to do one thing up in New York cost me at least a thousand bucks, you know, for a hotel room. They're not going to pay for my hotel room just for a quick interview and travel and all that stuff. And plus danger. I don't want to go up in that crazy city. All right, so guest appearances, joint venturing. I wrote a whole book on it. How you can be a nobody. You could be homeless and put together a joint venture where somebody that's way ahead of you can promote you in exchange for a commission. Okay, so that's joint venturing. Testimonials from people give authority. So try to solicit testimonials whenever you've helped somebody out. Media logos, any places that you've been in media put their logo on your website. That's a trust builder. Trading interviews and trading collaborations. Like for instance, I'll promote your product. You promote my product. And so you're, you're getting authority in front of someone else's audience. See, anytime anybody has an audience that likes them, they have authority that they could lend to you by, you know, making a deal with you and vice versa, that a lot of them want your access to your audience.
[00:05:12] So that's trading collaborations, Long form interviews, not necessarily on podcasts, but on your blog or your website where you could interview some other big shots, which kind of lends you credibility. And then you can land interviews on other people's websites when you start building your, your expertise, or if you're both at about the same level, you could trade again, like trading collaborations, putting data and case studies on your website and in your email and so forth lends credibility because case studies are very specific and specific things sell, specific things are more believable. So if you just say, oh, you know, 12%, we did a study and 12% this and that. No, it's a, we did a study of my 3000 subscribers and 12.2% believe this and 18.7% believe this other thing. And, you know, so specific cell partnerships. You know, you can basically get into a partnership, but I have a whole episode on that where it's very dangerous to get into partnerships if you don't do it correctly, because it has to be written up. There has to be contingencies. If one partner gets sick or poops out and doesn't want to do it anymore. And what you do, and if one partner wants the money, but they don't want to do the work, you know, all these things have to be addressed in partnerships.
[00:06:47] However, if you partner with a big firm, like if you could get a partnership with the Red cross or something like that, you know, they probably have hundreds of them with different companies and entities that, um, that do some kind of service for humanity. Then your credibility skyrockets. I have a, in my sponsorship episodes, I talk about how you can make a deal with big, big charities and, and really put your, put your name on the map and then summits. Just like I said, you're we're in the middle of one right now. Screwthecommute.com/aisummit. And that's putting me up there. I mean, a lot of people get on there. Uh, and, and, you know, I'm usually kind of the headliner on a lot of these things, but, but sometimes there's bigger names than me and especially in certain fields that I'm not the expert in, but I've got access to all those people seeing me and I see all them and all the people that go to these things see me featured. And, and, uh, even if I'm not featured, just being on a summit, you know, you're considered to be vetted and you've grabbed the authority from that summit.
[00:08:05] So, so these are all things you could start doing immediately to increase your authority and cut through all that BS in the marketplace so that you rise to the top. Okay, that's my story. I'm sticking to it. Hey, my school at IMTCVA.org is the only licensed dedicated internet and digital marketing school in the country, probably the world and its license to operate by SCHEV. The State Council on Higher Education in Virginia. But you don't have to be in Virginia because its quality distance learning and will save you a couple hundred thousand bucks by sending your kids to a four year indoctrination camp they call colleges and universities. So, uh, and they'll also get a highly in-demand skill that they can either work for somebody else, have their own business, or both. So there you go. Check it all out and run over and get on that summit as soon as you can and get the premium pass, because that way you'll have access to the stuff you're going to want to watch my session ten times, I'm telling you. Plus, I have a handout, a 53 page handout with all these hacks and simple things you could be doing. Just nobody taught you. All right, that's my story. I'm sticking to it. We'll catch you all in the next episode. See you later.
