SUMMARY BY CHATGPT
Main Idea:
Evergreen content is content that remains useful and valuable for a long time and can generate income repeatedly without needing constant updates.
Key Points
1. Many creators make the mistake of constantly producing new content.
• People often create new material because they think they must or because they get bored.
• This can hurt financially if the previous content hasn't been fully leveraged.
2. Evergreen content keeps producing results for years.
• It continues attracting viewers, readers, and customers long after it is published.
• This creates a high return on investment.
3. Example: Project Farm YouTube channel
• Started around 2017.
• Over 1 billion views.
• Reviews products (batteries, tools, generators, etc.).
• Some videos have 5 million+ views.
• Evergreen topics like product testing keep getting traffic over time.
4. Even low-view content can still make money.
Tom mentions old 2-minute speaking videos with only 20–40 views that still generated thousands of dollars because they led people to his paid products.
5. Reusing evergreen content multiplies its value.
Example:
• Short speaking tips videos from many years ago.
• Combined into a 5–6 hour YouTube Live session without creating new content.
6. Not all topics are evergreen.
• Internet marketing changes quickly, so content must be updated often.
• However, updates allow selling new versions or upgraded information.
7. Types of evergreen content
• How-to tutorials
• Product reviews
• Seasonal content (holidays, annual events)
• Ultimate guides
• Resource lists or tools
8. Evergreen content must still lead to monetization.
Possible monetization paths:
• Products
• Coaching or consulting
• Courses
• Digital products (high profit margins)
Final Advice
Spend part of your time creating evergreen content that can generate traffic and income for years instead of constantly chasing new content.

✅ Core takeaway:
Create content that continues to attract audiences and generate income long after it’s published, and reuse or repurpose it in different formats to maximize its value.

Episode 1090 – Evergreen Content
[00:00:08] Welcome to Screw the Commute. The entrepreneurial podcast dedicated to getting you out of the car and into the money, with your host, lifelong entrepreneur and multimillionaire, Tom Antion.
[00:00:24] Hey everybody, it's Tom here with episode 1090 of Screw the Commute podcast. Today we're going to talk about evergreen content. This is content that lasts a long time and pays off a long time. I'll show you examples of some that I've done and that other people are doing. All right, I hope you didn't miss episode 1089 that was on virtual private servers. This is a way to get better action out of your website without spending big money for a dedicated server. VPN stands for Virtual Private Servers. So Larry, my IT guy, explains that very well in a quick episode. All right. Make sure you pick up a copy of my automation book at screwthecommute.com/automatefree. Version 3.0 is the latest. And check out my mentor program at GreatInternetMarketingTraining.com and my school, the only licensed dedicated internet and digital marketing school in the country, probably the world certified to operate by SCHEV, the State Council on Higher Education in Virginia. But you don't have to be in Virginia because it's quality distance learning and that's at IMTCVA.org. Also, I am just getting ready to do a giant AI summit, Masterclass is what I'm doing, and the pre-registration starts Monday. And if you it's a totally free. Although you can get a premium pass and have access to all the sessions forever. And also just as a sign up bonus, you get my podcast masterclass worth 500 bucks, so watch for that starting the 9th of March, 2026.
[00:02:11] All right. Let's talk about evergreen content. See, everybody, a lot of times people come to me that I'm trying to help them, and they all want to make new stuff all the time. And either they think they must make new stuff all the time, or many times they just get bored with what they're doing. And I see this in writers all the time. All they want to do is write, even though their last book didn't sell at all. All right. But they want to write a new one, right? So this is this hurts you. This really hurts you in the long run financially. So what you want to do is create things that last and can bring in money for years. Now, an example of this on YouTube is a guy I watch all the time. His channel is called Project Farm and this guy has made a full time living doing this from let's see, I think he started in 2017. He's had over a billion views, and all he does is review items like the best electric screwdriver, the best solar generator, or, you know, just whatever his people ask him to review. He gets a bunch of them and he's he's pretty good. He must be an engineer or something. He knows how to actually test things. Microwave ovens, I mean, batteries. I mean, he's got 5 million views on testing. Which AA batteries are best.
[00:03:48] Okay. And I went back looking. He's got, like I said, as many as 5 million views. I couldn't find a video. Less than a half a million views. And many, many in the two, three, 4 million views. One video, he comes out with one a week. And even though some of it really is an evergreen. If it's like the latest greatest x, y, z, then maybe it fades out. And but the thing is, is it can probably come up with the 26 version. Well, who's the what's the best batteries in 2026 say. And so maybe he didn't have to do that for 2 or 3 years. Okay. But he creates this evergreen content and it keeps paying them and paying them and paying them now. So what I'm doing I mean, I've had you know, I've been doing videos on YouTube since back when it started, and some of them have pitiful numbers of views. I mean, public speaking related stuff. And I've got a two minute videos from 15 years ago that might have had 20 or 30 or 40 views. Okay, about as pitiful as you can get, but they still brought in like my people to buy my speaking system, my I wake him up book like thousands of dollars even though it. Could have had pitiful number of reviews, but it was evergreen. It was a good tip. And then it brought them into my system and they saw my wake him up speaking system. And they saw my wake book and my ultimate guide to professional speaking and, and bought all that kind of stuff.
[00:05:31] And then currently what we're doing is we're Mark, my video guy, just edited together like a couple hundred of those short videos and we got a five hour, almost a six hour video of tips on public speaking that we're going to run as a YouTube live. And so it's just I'm not creating any new content for this. The tips that I use today on stage, I mean, there might be some electronic tips and stuff of things to survey audience fancy stuff, but I mean, I can go without any of that stuff and just wow an audience. So the tips that I use have been using for, I don't know, over 30 years now. But they work on people. And so now we're just combining them all and using them again in a different format. Uh, just running them as a YouTube live for six hours at a time. See, the most you can go is ten hours, I think, on a YouTube live. So that's evergreen content. And so how do you make evergreen content. And now the same thing would not work on my internet stuff because I tell you something on the internet tomorrow it's different. Okay. So so that's not a an evergreen topic. However, it does give me opportunity after all these years of doing it. I mean, I've been on the commercial internet since it started in 1994. That's 32 years. It gives me a chance to sell upgraded information to the same people that have, and more and new people that hear about me say so.
[00:07:10] So internet marketing is not necessarily an evergreen topic, but it's still lucrative because it changes and people need to know it. But if you want to create evergreen, you should you should make a point to whatever you do. Start spending part of your time making content that can last for a long time, like how to tutorials reviews. Uh, seasonal evergreen is one where you can bring it back every year for Christmas related stuff, or any holiday that you got. Uh, could be Saint Patrick's Day. You know how to do a beer? Pub crawl? I don't know, uh, but you can bring it back over and over and over again over time. Ultimate guides like my Ultimate Guide to Professional Speaking. I haven't had to update that ten years. All right. Free tools that you, uh, that you use and telling people about, you know, so all you have to do is Google evergreen content and there's loads of websites that will give you examples, and then you just pick something that you want to do and create it and find a way to make money with it. So the YouTube stuff, it was a link in the description that brought him. And also we, we had links on the, the videos and they, uh, they come back and buy stuff from me. All right. So, so there's tons of ways you can use them for blog posts, but you always have to lead them back to something to sell.
[00:08:42] Consultation, coaching products and digital products are easy to create now and 97% profit. So so this is don't you know, just kill yourself making new stuff all the time. Although I want you to make some new evergreen content so that it lasts, promote it properly, get it out into the system, and it can be bringing you money for years. And it's easy to create. You get a great return on investment because it lasts so long. It's not a flash in the pan kind of thing. Say, All right, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Make sure. Hey, I'd love for you to, uh, not only watch for the AI summit, but, uh, the Hollywood documentary that's being done about my life and. And the American, it's called The American Entrepreneur is, uh, coming up in the next couple months. And I'd love to have you help me on the launch team. We'll have a big watch party when it premieres and all that stuff. And not much work to be on my launch team. Just watch the thing and maybe I'll give you some social media posts and some emails if you want to help a lot. Uh, so go to. Sign up and then please, it'll take you over to my, uh, trailer on Facebook where you can leave a comment and a like, and I'll respond to you personally. Okay. So that's my story. I'm sticking to it. Go out there and make that evergreen content. See you later.
