Episode 956 – Blocked Words & Links
[00:00:09] Welcome to Screw the Commute. The entrepreneurial podcast dedicated to getting you out of the car and into the money, with your host, lifelong entrepreneur and multimillionaire, Tom Antion.

[00:00:24] Hey everybody! It's Tom here with episode 956 of Screw the Commute podcast. Today, we continue our series on YouTube short tips that you can implement immediately that will help your YouTube channel. Today we're going to talk about blocked words and links. Hope you didn't miss episode 955. That was your channel description and why that's so important nowadays. Make sure you pick up a copy of our automation e-book at screwthecommute.com/automatefree. Check out my mentor program at GreatInternetMarketingTraining.com and my school at IMTCVA.org, the only licensed dedicated internet marketing school in the country, probably the world. Certified to operate by SCHEV, the State Council on Higher Education in Virginia. But you don't have to be in Virginia because it's distance learning. All right. And and this whole series started at episode 944. Anytime you want to get to a back episode, you go to screwthecommute.com, slash, then the episode number. The start of this series was 944. All right, so let's get into the blocked words and links and why they're important and what you can do about it. Okay. You go to your studio. You go to settings. You go to community. And then you scroll down to Blocked Words. There'll be a box for that. And you can fill this in with dirty words and things that are used. Typically if you start seeing things that you're getting spammers or trolls.

[00:01:58] They usually have similar strings of text you can put in here. And why is this important? Well, a couple reasons. You want the visitor to your YouTube channel to have a good experience. Now they might be against what you said and make a legitimate comment. So no, you want that. You want the engagement. But spammers and trolls just want to mess with you and cause trouble for you. And if someone, a legitimate visitor sees all these comments with dirty words and nasty, rotten things that trolls say, they might get a experience survey. I don't know if you've ever gotten one of those, but it says, you know, what did you think about this? Well, they might say, well, we hated it. And it might have been because they saw all this dirty language and things like that. So you can start putting dirty words in there. Now, I know it might hurt your sensibilities to even type such a such a thing. But the thing is, it's going to help you and your viewers in the long run. So like I said, you can put strings of text. Just put a comma between the things, dirty words and stuff like that. All right. Now while you're at it, right below that is a checkbox that says something like block links. You want to check that. And what that does is it.

[00:03:21] It doesn't delete a comment that has a link in it. It holds it for your moderation to make sure people aren't throwing in affiliate links that are totally unrelated and just spamming you so it doesn't delete the the comment. You can delete it later, or if it's a legit thing and it helps your visitors. Absolutely. Let it click a thing and approve it. Now this block and links thing doesn't apply to you or any of your approved users. So hey, if you are in the comments and somebody asks you for it for something and you say, oh well, here, go to this link or that link. Yes, it's automatically approved because it's you. So those two things can really help your channel out. Fill in the blocked words by going to Settings Community Blocked Words and then right beneath it click the little check box. And of course as always make sure you hit Publish or Save or none of these settings take effect. Now next episode is episode 957. That's called shorts remixing, and this is going to be a way to get you free advertising on other people's channels. All right, check that out and check out my mentor program. GreatinternetmarketingTraining.com, which also gets you a scholarship to my very exclusive school. So check it out and we will catch you on the next episode. See you later.
