Episode 300 – Patricia Noll
[00:00:09] Welcome to Screw the Commute. The entrepreneurial podcast dedicated to getting you out of the car and into the money, with your host, lifelong entrepreneur and multimillionaire, Tom Antion.

[00:00:24] Hey everybody it's Tom here with episode 300 of screw the commute podcast. Think about that. We did three hundred episodes. So this is a big milestone for us. So I thought I should have something really special on today. And this is it. I've got Patricia Noll here and she is creating a global movement. In other words, she's doing something way bigger that transcends our typical business stuff that we talk about here. So I'll introduce you to her in a minute and we'll hear her story. So I hope you didn't miss Episode two ninety nine. In fact, I demand that you listen to Episode two ninety nine for two reasons. One, it's about scams that can happen to you in your shopping cart. And so you recognize things so you don't lose money from fraudulent things. And other people are using your shopping cart to test fraudulent credit cards. So I show you what to watch out for. And then a lot of other stuff, scams I tell you about. But also it's one of the most hysterical segments that I've ever done on the commute. When I tell you about how I messed with a guy trying to scam me on Craigslist. So it's just hysterical.

[00:01:40] All right. Now, how would you like to hear your own voice here on Screw the Commute? Well, if the shows helped you out at all in your business or giving your ideas to help you start a business, we want to hear about it. So check out screwthecommute.com and look on the side. There's going be a little blue bar that says, send the voicemail. Click on it. Talk into your computer, microphone or your cell phone. And you can tell us what you liked about the show, what you learned from it, and then also put your Web site in there.

[00:02:08] So we'll get you a big shout out in front of thousands of people on a future episode of Screw the Commute.

[00:02:15] All right. Pick up a copy of your automation e-book. This runs my entire business, saves me millions of keystrokes.

[00:02:22] Let me steal customers from other companies that are too slow to respond. These are all the tools and techniques that I use to automate my business so you can pick it up for free because we sell it for twenty seven bucks online. You're welcome to go over there, buy it if you'd like. You know, I won't complain, but go get it for free. screwthecommute.com/automatefree.

[00:02:47] And while you're at it, pick up a copy of our podcast app at screwthecommute.com/app and we have all the fancy features in it. So you can do all kinds of cool things on your cell phone and your tablet when you take us with you on the road. All right. Now we're just kinda in the middle of this pandemic and people were freaking out about working from home. And I've been preaching this for twenty six years now. And and people call me up. This known me for 20 years. Tom I should've listened to way back. Yeah. Yeah, that's right. You should have so you wouldn't be freaking out right now, but you can have a great lifestyle business. And I formalized my training in the form of the only license dedicated Internet marketing school in the country.

[00:03:33] It's IMTCVA.org, and of course all the links and all Patricia's stuff will be in the show notes. But you can have a lifestyle business in as little as a few months and most people that take advantage of the whole program go about six months to a year, but they still can be making money. Some in the first month we had one young woman. First month she's making eleven hundred bucks. Second month she's making thirty four hundred third or fourth month.

[00:04:01] She's making six thousand dollars a month and she has even graduated yet. And her dad had paid eighty thousand bucks for her education and she's working a crappy job. So she quit her job full time on this and she hasn't even graduate. Yeah. So it's very powerful. It's a great gift not only for yourself and your own business, but for your kids, for your grandchildren, nephews and nieces. This is the way analysts say the wave of the future. It's been the future. I've been doing, you know, selling online for 26 years. All right. It seems, though, so this is a great thing you could do for them rather than having them saddled in debt for the rest of their life and compete for jobs at Starbucks. So check it out. I'll talk to you all about it at IMTCVA.org.

[00:04:47] All right. Let's get to the main event. Dr. Patricia Noll is the founder of the Good With Me global humanitarian movement. This is big stuff, folks, compared to the stuff we usually talk about here, I'll tell you that. It's the annual Good With Me festival, which was originated in, and co-sponsored by, the city of St. Petersburg, Florida, Patricia is an acupuncture physician, licensed mental health counselor, which we need those around here for sure for people that listen to this show, certified addictions professional and I want you to be addicted to Screw The Commute, that's for sure. And founder of Focus One, an outpatient substance abuse treatment program. Patricia, are you ready to screw? The commute?

[00:05:35] I am.

[00:05:35] Hey, how are you doing?

[00:05:39] Hey, I'm doing well.

[00:05:40] Oh, man, am I excited about this being our 300th episode. I knew I had to have somebody really, really, really special. And that is you.

[00:05:52] Wow. Tell them I am deeply honored. I am grateful and I'm so excited to have the opportunity to tell the world about the good with me.

[00:06:03] Global humanitarian movement and all that goes with it.

[00:06:05] Well, good. Start telling about it now and then we'll take it back and see how it originated. And I know everything's been perfectly smooth along the way. Right. So, so. So tell him. Tell him what it is and then we'll take you back.

[00:06:19] Ok, what it is, it's a community group movement, so to speak.

[00:06:26] It's grassroots.

[00:06:28] It's getting into the community and it's actually teaching people how to rethink their lives, how to feel good about themselves.

[00:06:37] And what I've learned through years and years of experience working with thousands and thousands of people is that if we like ourselves, we like others, if we feel good about ourselves, we feel good about others. And what more than that is needed today?

[00:06:51] Tom, I'll tell you for sure, because a lot of the people screaming bloody murder and doing all those protests. I would like to have the psychological profiles of just one of them at a time and just see what's making them do the things that they do.

[00:07:06] And, you know, I'm certainly in favor of, you know, valid protests and things. But when you're burning down buildings and pulling down statues of people that supported you, there's something going on in your head that's not right. So, yeah, we absolutely need it. So now you got this tied in with the city of the whole city is behind this. That has a good with me day, right?

[00:07:33] That's right. The mayor of St. Petersburg, Florida, made an official proclamation in the city of St. Petersburg that September 21st of every year is good with me day in the city of St. Petersburg.

[00:07:47] So with that, someone's said, well, why don't you have something big in the park? I have been having a little get togethers. I'm good with me day and like as a storefront or a book signing or something like that. And then somebody planted that seed and I said, Oh, my gosh. Yes, that is it. So I went to the city, the parks. I ask questions and they were fully behind me. And so, yes, they sponsor it when it gets time for the festival. And at the end of September, we have big billboards on all of our interstates announcing it. So it has grown to last year. In 2019, we had over 3000 people. The excitement and the positive energy in the park because of the festival was just over the top. But I want to tell people, if I can Tom what that festival is about.

[00:08:47] Yeah, I want to, because you had all kinds of activities. It was family friendly. It was beautiful.

[00:08:53] Yes, it is totally family friendly. It's totally free. And it is a celebration of our citizens. And its main goal is to introduce the citizens of our community to healthy activities, healthy foods, healthy wares. I want to because of my background in drugs and alcohol.

[00:09:16] You better say more about that.

[00:09:21] And I can. I have a whole story.` That's my story. I'll be glad to tell that story and how that got started and how this whole thing got started.

[00:09:28] But I want I want them not to have to put their lives at risk to have fun. And if we look around our society today, that's what people are doing. That's what kids are doing. That's what adults are doing. And this is to show them that while there are just lots and lots of ways that maybe they just never even thought of or heard of or ever experience. So we want them to be able to experience it. So it's continuous hands on they get to learn how to join a drum circle or climb a what, a rock wall and see, wow, I can do this and learn how to hula hoop or belly dance or just. And there's things like yoga and meditation and there's just something for everyone of every age to go home and have fun and enjoy.

[00:10:15] So I don't suppose you have a vaping station and a and a cannabis dispensary.

[00:10:24] I suppose you're right about that.

[00:10:27] And in fact, you know, that kind of gets me to sponsors. And I have a lot of breweries and wineries and and and creed. And what have you. And they want to sponsor me. But that just wouldn't be in keeping with the message and the values of the festival and its purpose.

[00:10:46] All right. So how did you come up with the concept way and about when was it?

[00:10:52] About when was it? As I said, I started a outpatient treatment program over 30 years ago, I started it in nineteen eighty nine and was licensed by the state of Florida. I didn't know what I was doing. I had just stopped my own drinking, if you will, of alcohol. I drank too much. And so I had been in treatment and with a counselor who was my mentor for years and years until he passed away. So I learned a lot. But I wanted to share it with others. So I decided I was going to write a program so that I could teach what I had been learning to other people. And so I spent time writing this program. And then I was going to have I was just going to start doing it and invite people in. And I was going to do this. And one of my friends said, well, don't you have to have a license to do that? Oh, God, really? I don't know. I just want to do it.

[00:11:50] Oh. So anyway, I checked it out and yes, I did have to have a license to do it. And so I went to the licensing agency and I talked to the supervisor of the department.

[00:12:03] And would, you know, Tom, they came into my condo and helped me write all my rules and regs. They got me so ready and or so behind me. And then I, I was meeting people along the way because I was out and about like Deepak Chopra and Dr. Larry Dossey and Jack Kornfield, Jacqueline Small and some people like that that were really big and well-known. And I asked them I just simply asked, would you look at this and tell me what you think about it? And so I have their written endorsements.

[00:12:42] That's awesome. So what year did you really get going?

[00:12:46] So then when I've really got going was down the road, I'd been working with thousands of people in the state of Florida, comes in every year and audits me and.

[00:12:54] And the the lady that would come in came in for about four or five years in a row.

[00:12:58] And she said, Patricia, you are the only one doing anything like this. This is so awesome. You've got to write a book.

[00:13:06] And I looked at her and I said, yes, when.

[00:13:09] And so anyway, that went on for about four years and finally I said on camera writing this book. And I did. And that's the book. Good with you. With me. That's right. So that started the whole good with me concept. Because what I had learned through those years was if I'm not good with me, I'm not good with anything. So that's the basic premise. And it's very simple.

[00:13:34] In fact, it is so simple. Tom that is hard.

[00:13:40] Have you ever heard that before? It was like I'm trying to learn to use a Mac.

[00:13:49] Yes. It's it's like me learning how to build a website.

[00:13:54] That's right. It's so easy. It's hard.

[00:13:58] And so then the book was published. And that's where I met you.

[00:14:04] And I've been working with you ever since. Which has been one of the best thing that's ever happened to me as well.

[00:14:11] Very kind. Yes. I mean that.

[00:14:14] And so once the book was published and then it just started to grow, I just I couldn't leave it alone. It just it's my mission. I think that's what I was born to do, is to help other people learn what I've learned.

[00:14:30] And this is this is this is planned to expand to more cities and then globally.

[00:14:35] Right. You got it. That's right. And there's a and that's that's easy to do. Right.

[00:14:43] That's why I keep talking to you.

[00:14:46] You know, so there's volunteers involved. There's learning how to get sponsors involved.

[00:14:52] There's vendors at the event and it has to make money at least break even for it to happen, because you can't you can't go globally and lose money for four years or just can't go forward.

[00:15:07] So there's all these different elements. You're you're learning about.

[00:15:14] That's right. I've been learning about them and implementing them. And it's working. It's growing. We are getting ready to celebrate the third annual Good With Me Day Festival. In the end of September, September 26 this year. And we may have to do some things differently. You know, I don't know if we're gonna have to do some social distancing, but the city is still behind us right now.

[00:15:39] Well, Florida has been one of the best states there is with regard to the covid virus, right?

[00:15:46] Yes. Until recently, we've just in the last couple of weeks have we've had a spike.

[00:15:52] Could that be because of more testing?

[00:15:53] I don't know. I don't know why it is. I, I don't have those answers.

[00:16:00] I'm not a scientist, so I know where we know you wouldn't have the answers because I sit here with the TV on all day and there's ten highly credentialed doctors on in the course of a day. And half three of them say one thing, three ever say another, three of them say the other thing, and then one of them says one early.

[00:16:19] No, that's all.

[00:16:21] You can listen. Exactly. So I just stay out of that arena. I'll just stay with what I think I know.

[00:16:28] But you have to start planning. You know, now we are right around the corner. What happens with.

[00:16:33] Ok, yeah, we are planning we're in touch with our vendors and people are on board. They're ready to go with it. The city is ready to go if if we're able to do it.

[00:16:45] And if not, then we will change the date to a later date when we can.

[00:16:50] So the city is already supportive of that. So we're ready to go with it. We were planning or thinking about having two festivals to share. And and really, the festival is a celebration of good with me day, even though it doesn't always fall on good with me day, which is September 21st. And that's the United Nations International Day of Peace also, which is no mistake for choosing that day as well. And it's in our National Recovery Month of September. And so I think next year we'll be having a second festival and then just keep growing it from there.

[00:17:31] And in the meantime, every September 21st, we are having a virtual good with me day on all the social media's. And so so far, we've had our participation from over 13 foreign countries are. Yes. And our virtual good with me day. So that's exciting as well.

[00:17:54] No, I can picture if you do have the live event.

[00:17:58] Having a bunch of live streaming to so people from around the world can can experience some of the live events. That's pretty easy to do if there's a decent signal out there to do some Facebook lives forth for.

[00:18:12] Oh, that would be incredible. You and I are going to have to run. OK.

[00:18:19] So you have a Facebook group that you thought people might want to visit, right?

[00:18:25] Yes, we I just started a little over a month ago, a private Facebook group that's good with me, Facebook group for individuals that are experiencing a lot of anxiety, depression, fear, angst, all kinds of strong emotions going on during all this going on in these very different and unusual times in which you don't have to have a malady to stop by or if you could, just as a lark and enjoy and encourage others, right? Absolutely. You got it. Thank you for saying that because. Yes. And we have lots of people on it. It's so amazing already that people are up uplifting other people and each other. And that's what it's for. That's exactly what it's.

[00:19:20] What's good with me all the way to get to it? Because here's something else that if they join the Facebook group, they're going to get a free download PDF up the book right now.

[00:19:33] Oh, wow. That's like a 20 dollar value there folks.

[00:19:36] Absolutely it is. So they get their own copy and then they can really learn a lot as we go along. And then every Sunday evening at seven fifteen, I do a Facebook live with some teaching and helping them see how to make some changes that they might like to make.

[00:20:21] goodwithme.com Facebook group opt in.

[00:20:27] Ok, so we'll have that in the show notes for everybody.

[00:20:33] Yeah, we'll have the show now. So you all you do is click on folks and you go over there, join the Facebook group, get a lot of inspiration, help others if you're so in kind and get some help for yourself. And you'll know all about what's coming up with the big day and say, Pete St. Petersburg, Florida, and so far is September 21st. But something is going to go on that day one way or the other.

[00:20:59] I match September 26, September 26. OK. That's September 21st is the good news is growing every day.

[00:21:09] But the festival is planned for September 26. All of this will be in the show notes, don't worry a bit jot down or being confused about it. But you also get a copy of her fantastic book. Good with me too. And so tell me about the book a little bit. So so what? Can they get it when they're reading your book? What do they get out of it?

[00:21:30] What do they get out of it? They're they're going to learn a lot about themselves and why they've ended up feeling about themselves the way they do. Maybe why they think there's something wrong with them or they aren't as happy as they thought they should be or as successful as they thought they should be and learn that where they are, as is where they're supposed to be, and then learn how to rethink and retrain their brains to be able to think differently about who they are.

[00:22:00] That's an amazing feat then. Yes. For a book to accomplish. That's for sure. Especially if, you know, narcissistic ego maniacs to read it. So something on the news today. I wanted to I know you can't comment as a professional, but, you know, some some guy that's been arrested one hundred and four times walked down the street and just smacked a 92 year old lady in the face. One hundred and four times been arrested. I mean, it seems like there's. And the defense attorney said and he's got mental issues. I guess. I guess so. But what kind of what kind of mental malady would make a person do that? Just walk down the street and knock over an old lady?

[00:22:53] Good question. That is is a really good question.

[00:22:55] And how is the system failed this person that they've been a sex offender and one hundred and four arrests and back out on the street.

[00:23:05] Well, here's here's how I see it. I think as a system, as a society, what we've been teaching people are our citizens from the get go is how to be other dependent to feel good about themselves. So and what that says is that, you know, if you don't amount to something, if you don't want to be a CEO or a leader or a you know, somebody that really makes a big contribution to the society, then sorry, you don't count your you're a nothing. You're a nobody. And I think that, you know, yes, we want people to to do their best. But when they learn that they aren't good enough right away and it's so easy just from the messages that we receive day in and day out that there's something wrong with us. Specialness that I'm all absolutely. That's when it gets in there the most, because there's a part of the brain that isn't fully developed until we're about five or six years old. And then once that's fully developed, then, you know, whatever we've got in there that we believe about ourselves becomes our schematic for life. And so we go through life with that. But when we're not OK with ourselves and and we see ourselves as something wrong with us and I was one of those people, I did everything I was supposed to do. And yet I still thought was something's missing. I still don't have it all. And so I drank. And so we're always looking for something to make us feel good or feel better. And we're looking outside of ourselves rather than inside of ourselves. And the way that we think about ourselves and the way that we see ourselves. So if we don't learn how to change that when we're little, then what happens? We get angrier and angrier and angrier.

[00:24:51] Sometimes we can hide it. Sometimes we aren't able to. And then we have people in the drugs and and then we don't see anything clearly any way. You know, when we're in a brain fog from drugs or alcohol. So nothing makes sense. But, you know, I want to be like you and I'm not. And so I'm angry with you and I don't like you. And I think that, you know, if I don't like me. And then I think that no one else likes me either Tom. And that's where we get into the real violence that we see in the world. I don't like me and I don't think others like me either. So I don't have any self esteem. I call it self dependent esteem. It comes from within me. Or I don't have any other dependent esteem like you don't like me, so I can't even esteem myself because you approve of me and like me. So now I'm going to get even.

[00:25:49] Well, I know like it's a self fulfilling prophecy, because if you don't think I like you and then you start acting out, then I'm for sure I'm not going to like.

[00:26:01] Yeah. Because, you know, the way we think becomes the way we feel becomes the way we behave. And so, yes, we become that. And I really believe that, you know, we are sometimes we're looking in the wrong direction when we say, oh, this is a mental disorder. If it is a mental disorder, it's a mental disorder of I don't like myself. I don't feel good about me. And so I'm going to act it out all over the place. And that's one of the things that I have designed the festival for.

[00:26:37] And the Good With Me book for is to learn how to like yourself so that you can like others.

[00:26:45] And then life changes. If you change your thinking, you change your world.

[00:26:51] And that's very prophetic. So I'm going to use a term now from the counseling world. I'm sorry, time is up. I want everybody to check out the show notes to get all the greats, the giveaways that Patricia has. And check out goodwithme.com. Get over there.

[00:27:20] Join the Facebook group. Get in there. It's all really great people in there and it's growing like crazy. So.

[00:27:28] So get in there now and then you'll know you'll keep appraised of what's happening with the the actual live event and the virtual events. And now they have so much fun stuff down there.

[00:27:40] It was a rock painting and face painting and bust paint. There's a lot of paint going on that are painted. Paint a bus. What's that all about?

[00:27:49] Right. It's a big school bus that is all white. When it pulls and it's totally clean, has nothing on it. And people paint the bus. And it travels around from school to school.

[00:28:02] An event, an event and facilities. Wholesome graffiti, basically.

[00:28:06] Yeah, it's wholesome. Every time, you know, somebody writes good with me on the bus and love and peace and just flowers and and all kinds of things. And it's for any age, everybody can do it. And yes, we have the rock painting, the face painting. I have designed this festival so that any little girl or boy that wants their face painted and mom says we don't have the money for it. That's out the window. They get to have their toes. Everything is free. So I want everyone to be able to participate in an experience and see what it's like and not not be left out.

[00:28:45] And wait till you hear Patricia sing. She's like an opera. She's going to be on the big stage. There's I just made it up.

[00:28:56] We do have a good with me theme song. Yes, we do. We have a good with me theme song. And then we have a group of teenage girls that are part of a dance studio that they're learning to dance. And they did a an awesome dance video to the theme song as well.
