Screw The Commute Podcast Show Notes Episode 1167
This is turning out to be a phone tip week! I got so many darn phone tips. I did one Friday and Monday and today, and probably I might do one more this Friday just to make it a clean sweep. But I'll tell you what, if you take advantage of some of these simple tips that just nobody taught you, you're like, oh my God, that was easy. And I've been struggling with this, so you don't want to do that. Also, if you really get into it, which you should, because that phone's in your hand all day anyway. Go to screwthecommute.com/training, then hit command F or control F and put in the word phone and you'll bring in all the past phone episodes. And you Android folks. Sorry, I don't know how to do it on Android, but what I want you to do is take the tip and then just Google it on how to do it on Android, because it'll do most of the same stuff.

SUMMARY BY CHATGPT
Tom Antion continues his series of practical iPhone tips, focusing on simple features that can make everyday phone use faster and less frustrating. Android users can generally find equivalent features by searching for the Android version of each tip.
The four main tips:
Clear all notifications at once
Open the Notification Center by swiping.
Find the X near the top.
Press and hold the X rather than simply tapping it.
Select Clear All Notifications to remove everything at once.
Reset Siri when it isn't working properly
Go to Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri → Talk & Type to Siri.
Turn the Siri options off and choose Stop Using Siri.
Return to the same settings and turn Siri back on.
Tom suggests this as a quick way of effectively resetting Siri without restarting the entire iPhone.
Customize “Respond with Text” for incoming calls
Go to Settings → Apps → Phone → Respond with Text.
The iPhone provides three preset responses that appear when you can't answer an incoming call.
Replace them with your own messages, such as “I'll call you back in a few.”
When a call arrives that you can't answer, select one of your customized responses instead.
Automatically activate Do Not Disturb
Go to Settings → Focus → Do Not Disturb → Add Schedule.
Do Not Disturb can be triggered according to:
Time — for example, automatically from 10 PM to 7 AM.
Location — automatically activate when you arrive at work.
App — activate while you're using a particular app, such as a reading app.
These settings eliminate the need to manually turn Do Not Disturb on and off.
One-minute takeaway
The episode's central message is that small iPhone settings can eliminate repetitive daily annoyances. The most useful tip for many people may be customizing Respond with Text, because it gives you instant, personalized replies when you can't answer a call. Scheduling Focus/Do Not Disturb is similarly useful because the phone can automatically manage interruptions based on what you're doing, where you are, or the time of day.
Tom also points listeners to his previous phone-tip episodes and promotes his automation book, Internet marketing school, and mentoring program.

Episode 1167 – Phone Tips
[00:00:08] Welcome to Screw the Commute. The entrepreneurial podcast dedicated to getting you out of the car and into the money, with your host, lifelong entrepreneur and multimillionaire, Tom Antion.
[00:00:24] Hey everybody, it's Tom here with episode 1167 of Screw the Commute podcast. This is turning out to be a phone tip week. I got so many darn phone tips. I did one Friday and Monday and today, and probably I might do one more on Friday this Friday just to make it a clean sweep. So there you go. And you Android folks. Sorry, I don't know how to do it on Android, but what I want you to do is take the tip and then just Google it on how to do it on an Android, because it'll do most of the same stuff. All right, so let's see. Pick up a copy of my automation book at screwthecommute.com/automatefree. Version 4.0 is finally out and it blows away 3.0. So go ahead and grab that and check out my mentor program. Greatinternetmarketingtraining.com and my school at IMTCVA.org, certified to operate by SCHEV.
[00:01:49] All right. First tip is how to clear all your notifications at once. I get a whole notifications from everybody on the sun that I agreed to. And and they just fill up the whole screen. And some of them, you know, I don't care about it once in a while. But anyway, I don't want to turn them off. And so sometimes I just need to clear them all out. So here's how you do it. So you bring them up by either swiping down or swiping up depending on your phone. And then there's an X near the top. You have to tap and hold it. You can't just tap it. You got to tap and hold it and you'll get a pop up that says clear all notifications and then bam, bam, boom, there they go. They're gone. All right. Until the next load of them comes through. All right. That's how to clear all your notifications. Next thing is sometimes Siri, you know, just doesn't understand you or locks up or just gets weird on you. So there's a way to reset Siri. Here's how you do it. You go to settings, Apple Intelligence and Siri, and then you tap talk and type to Siri, and then you select off. And then there's three choices there. You make them all off and then you click stop using Siri. That turns it all off. Then you go back and turn them all on. So you go to settings, Apple Intelligence and Siri Talk and type to Siri Select on, and then you got three choices there to turn on, turn them all on.
[00:03:34] And then there you go. So you, you kind of reset the whole thing without turning your phone off or anything like that. Okay, so that's how to reset Siri if it's getting wonky on you or it just doesn't understand you. All right, let's see. When people call you, sometimes you just can't answer. You want to answer. You like the person, but you just can't. And so this is how you respond to a call while you're on another call, or you don't have to be on another call. It's just let's just say you can't talk right then. And so this is how you can send them a text. And without typing a text in, you have three canned answers you can make up to respond. So you go to settings and then apps and then phone and then respond with text. And that brings up three messages. You'll probably have three canned messages already there, but you can just type over them with whatever you want. You know, it could be, hey, I'll call you back in a few or hey, I can't, I'm at work, I can't talk or, you know, you can put in three of whatever you want and then pick one to respond once you get a call. So that's how you respond to a call with text. Okay. Let's see in the last one is you can actually schedule your do not disturb preferences. In other words, they'll come on automatically instead of you having to set them all the time.
[00:05:10] Now, of course, you can override them and turn them off, but if you want to schedule them, you go to settings and then focus and then Do Not Disturb. And then you click Add Schedule. And there's three stock ones. You can pick either time, location or app. And then once you pick one of those, you go and click Smart Activation. And if it's time, you're going to tell it a start time. Let's say you just do not want to respond to anything after 10 p.m. at night, you set 10 p.m. and then maybe 7 a.m. in the morning to turn it off automatically. If you use location, maybe you say, look, people bug me at work. It's getting me in trouble. So you can say, hey, at this location, put me on do not disturb. I can't be disturbed at work. You can still make outbound calls and so forth, but that's a location. And then an app means that maybe you don't want to be disturbed when you're reading a novel in your book app or something, you know, or just whatever app you happen to be using. So those are the three different ones that you can set that and just schedules automatically. Now it's not even scheduled. If you're doing like a book app, you know, because when you open it and start using it, it kicks in. You're not going to be disturbed while you're using that app.
[00:06:41] So, so those are some, some more tips. And I'm telling you, if you go to screwthecommute.com/training, hit command F or control F for the search function, put in the word phone and you'll get, I mean, there's probably 30 episodes now on phone tips. And like I said, just a few of them could like change your whole life because that phone's in your hand all day long anyway. All right, so if you want help with this and all the other stuff you need to do to be successful online. Check out my school at IMTCVA.org or put your kids in the school and and get them a highly in-demand skill in as little as six months. Or use it for your own training or get in my mentor program if you want one on one training from the OG people, call me the OG because I've been in this since the beginning and made a fortune doing it, I could have quit 20. Let's see, what year is it now? I could have quit 20, 25 years ago and I just love it so much. And I love working from home. So, check it out. Greatinternetmarketingtraining.com and the school at IMTCVA.org, certified to operate by SCHEV. Okay, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. We'll catch you on the next episode. It'll probably be a phone tip episode so I can make a clean sweep this week. All right. We'll catch you all later.
