And now that I think of it, Larry's going to shoot me because I've been saying screw the commute so fast. Uh, it doesn't transcribe. Good. So. All right, so I made some improvement. Larry. Come on. Larry's the guy that's run every one of these 1100 and, well, close to 1200 with our special events and so forth podcast.
[00:04:23] All right, so let's get into this. So the first thing I want to talk to you about is albums, which we covered in episode 1150, but albums are where you can specifically, you know, make collections of specific items that you want to be able to get fast. So one suggestion is making an album and call it like photos to print something like that. And then if you get this app called Social Print Studio, it allows you to take photos that you have and they have a million. I don't know how many different products that that can be put on. So you can frame stuff, you can print on mugs, I think, and things like that. And it's great for gifts. If you want to, you know, send a gift to somebody. So that's a social print studio app. And you can, as you start going through your photos, if you just throw them in an album that, that potentially you might want to print as gifts or for yourself or whatever, that's a good way to do it.
[00:05:33] So that's social print studio. Okay. Next thing is we're going to talk. Also, I think we talked about this a little bit in 1150, but the search function, when you open the photos app, the search function works really good on Apple, but it works better if you have Apple Intelligence turned on. And when you do have Apple Intelligence turned on, you can use like regular speech saying, hey, give me all the pictures from a picnic where I was pictured with Sally or something like that. And it can find stuff like that. And the way you turn on Apple Intelligence is if you haven't is settings, and then Apple Intelligence and Siri, and then you toggle Apple Intelligence on. That's how you do it. And then your search function will work even better than what it does to find photos. Okay. Now things that you can search for, you can search for like a date, like you could say, I want all photos now if you leave the year off like you say, you want all the photos from July like this last month. Well, it's going to, if you leave the date off or the year, it's going to pull up every photo you took in July for since you know all the photos that you have. So if you want it from July 2026, then you put July 2026.
[00:07:10] And then if you want an exact date, like let's say 4th of July last year, then you, you put July 4th, 2025 or whatever it happens to be, or, or New Year's Eve. You wanted all the pictures from that. Then you put that in there. So you can search for all kinds of things. You can search for the names of people. Although as I covered in 1150, you have the people and pets part of your collections already, so that's something you can go in and, and if there's, uh, if you're looking for certain people, look for them in there first, but you can search for them. You can search for tools, you can search for water, you can search for text or pictures that have text handwritten on them. I mean, just anything you can think of. That's the first thing I would do is hit search rather than trying to, you know, scroll through thousands of pictures to find what you're looking for. Okay. Now, one thing that will make this easier if you start doing this, or if you've got, you know, some dead time and you're scrolling through pictures and you want to definitely be able to find one later easily. I mean, yes, the search function works great, but you can help it by adding a caption to the photo. And what you do is you open any one of the photos you're interested in. And down at the bottom there's a little eye in a circle, like an info button, and it gives you all kinds of stuff about the photo that you know, I don't understand half of it, like the pixels.
[00:08:58] And I don't know, I don't know all kinds of stuff. And if you're interested in the photography, that's important to you. But for me and most of us, we just want to put a caption on the photo so that it's searchable easier. So it might be some part from my Kawasaki motorcycle. So I might just put the term Kawasaki there. And it's going to bring up, you know, my quad and my and my motorcycle. So adding captions. And then of course, once you add the caption, you got to hit the blue check mark to make it stick. All right, let's see. Uh oh, here's a, I don't know what you might use this for, but it's kind of a cute little trick. You can just put the word iPhone in your search box, and of course you're in the photo app and just put iPhone. It comes up with all the photos you took. Let's say you've been an iPhone person for years and you, you know, upgrade. So it'll bring up, okay, you took 800 photos with iPhone 15 and 600 with iPhone 16, and you can pick them all up. I'm not sure why you'd need that unless there were certain things in the photo app, and you're really into it that didn't didn't apply, or they didn't have it in iPhone 15 as opposed to 16.
[00:10:29] And so I'm not sure what you'd use that for, but it's just a cool little hack there. Okay. Next thing is, if you open your photos app and you click on your library. And as I said in episode 1150, your library is every picture, every video, all of that, every screen capture, the whole schmear is there. So up at the top, there's kind of like a hamburger icon, which is horizontal lines. There's the top one is big and they get smaller. Like, you know, like Papa Bear, baby mama bear, and baby bear. So if you click that, you're going to have a lot of different options on how to sort your library. It's just something you're going to play with. I'm not going to give you the exact stuff here, but you can sort it, you know, by all kinds of things. And if you hit the filter button, you have all kinds of options. So you can bring up things like all your favorites, the ones with hearts in them. You can pick up all your videos, you can pick up only photos. You can even pick up like photos that you've edited, you know, because you can pick more than one thing in the filter thing. You can pick up screenshots, uh, you know, things like that. So play with that.
[00:11:53] And you can also, when you hit the little hamburger icon, you can says view options and you can zoom in if you want less per screen or zoom out if you want loads of them per screen and how they're displayed on the screen and all that stuff. So, so that's your filters as part of your library, don't I don't think you do that in collections and collections. You can go to the bottom and reorder what shows up at the top. And again, I explain collections in episode 1150. And it's really great because it saves a lot of work for you by just grabbing stuff automatically that it thinks you, you, you would normally put in stuff in albums yourself. Okay, so the last thing is how to make albums faster. And albums are great because it puts the important stuff that you want right at your fingertips. I mean, especially a lot of us have 10,000, 20,000 or more photos in here, say, and videos. So an album is very specific and can be handy quickly for you. The trick to make an album faster is that instead of just going through your pictures one at a time and saying, add to album and tell it what album? Okay, you do a search first. Remember I told you how great the search function is on what you want in that album? For instance, I searched on tuck, which was one of my protection dogs.
[00:13:30] Okay. And it brought up all the pictures of tuck that I had and videos and everything. All right. And then you click select and then you just drag your finger over all of them. And it, it, it grabs all of them. And then you click the share button, that little square with an up arrow, and then it says add to album, and you click that and then you add it like all of those pictures at once, right into the album. If you, if I tried to do that one at a time, literally, it would take me hours because I'd have to scroll through and make sure I didn't miss any pictures of tuck and do them one at a time. And then when I found a picture, I'd have to add it to the to the album one at a time. So that's just crazy work. So so that's how you make an album faster. All right.
