Episode 310 – Frequently Asked Questions
[00:00:09] Welcome to Screw the Commute. The entrepreneurial podcast dedicated to getting you out of the car and into the money, with your host, lifelong entrepreneur and multimillionaire, Tom Antion.

[00:00:24] Hey, everybody it's Tom here with episode three hundred and ten of Screw the Commute podcast. Today, I'm going to give you something where you could make your Web site more easily found in the search engines. And it's already something you're dealing with every day. All you have to do is write it down. All right. We'll get into that little in a minute.

[00:00:47] How about episode 309? Oh, my God. Is it a powerful episode on joint venturing? I revisited that topic because it's so powerful and putting you on the map or giving your business a massive boost. So if you missed that one, check out Episode 309. And how would you like to hear your own voice here on Screw the Community if the shows helped you out at all in your business or giving you ideas to help you start a business? We want to hear about it. Check out screwthecommute.com and look for a little blues side bar that says send a voicemail. Click on it. Talk into your phone or computer and tell me how the shows helped you and also put your Web site on it so you get a nice big shout out in front of thousands of people. All right. Make sure you grab a copy of our automation e-book. We sell it for twenty seven bucks. But it is helped me. Oh my goodness, this just helped me reach many more people so much faster. And actually, we figured it out. It saved me seven and a half million keystrokes. We figured that out two years ago. So I'm sure it's way more than that. Now, just one of the tips in the book. So go over and grab it at screwthecommute.com/automatefree. And while you're at it, get a copy of our podcast app at screwthecommute.com/app and you will be able to take us with you on the road on your cell phone and tablet. We've got complete training on how to use it. All right. Everybody's still freaking out on this pandemic stuff, but hasn't made me freak out because I've been hammering people for over 20 years. Twenty six years, really? To be exact.

[00:02:38] Of how you can work at home, have a beautiful lifestyle business, you can work actually anywhere that you can get an Internet connection. So I've formalized this training as the only licensed, dedicated Internet marketing school in the country. It's IMTCVA.org. Distance learning so you can be anywhere in the country and learn it. And I don't want to hear this crap there. Say it on TV. Distance learning doesn't work. It works. If you're interested in making a lifestyle business, if you're some, you know, eight year old that doesn't know what they're doing and has no teacher. Well, that's a whole different story. This is adult learning that makes a whole career for you, makes money coming in when a here at the beach. Okay, so that's a whole different thing. People have had great success with this this learning when they really mean something to them. Yeah. If you're just trying to do art history, well, maybe that's not going to be as powerful, let's say, in the short run as this would be.

[00:03:40] So check it out at IMTCVA.org. Give me a call and we'll discuss your participation.

[00:03:46] Also, it's a great legacy gift for your kids, your grandchildren, your nephews and nieces as be way better than giving them money in some worthless crap as a graduation presence when this could really give them a in demand career in a few months they could get go on. It takes six months to a year to graduate. But we've got people making money in a few months.

[00:04:11] All right. Let's get to the main event, which is going to be pretty short because this is really powerful. But the idea is not that hard. You'll have to do some research.

[00:04:24] But I want to ask you, have you noticed when you search for something in Google? Frequently you get an immediate answer where you don't even have to click on it. In fact, about twenty three percent of Google searches on their results pages have these answers to your questions. And that's one hundred and sixty five percent increase over two thousand sixteen. So they're really going this way. I mean, go ahead and try it whenever you can. For instance, I asked Google the question, what temperature does water boil? And I instantly got the answer from a site called Wired.com. Now, I could click over to Wired.com to get more details about how altitude and pressure, things like that affect the boiling point.

[00:05:15] But if I just couldn't remember two hundred and degrees Fahrenheit or 100 degrees Celsius, the answer was there for me instantly without clicking away. Well, lots of Web site owners cried about this because they claimed Google was stealing their traffic, in other words, using their information from their Web site. But keeping the searcher on Google. Well, guess what? That's exactly what they're doing. And you can either cry about it or make changes on your site to play the game as it is. You can be sure Google is not going to change to please you.

[00:05:54] Now, what I'm talking about here is putting a frequently asked question part on your site. Now, you get questions all the time in your business. I'm suggesting you write them down and research other questions that you could answer in and put them on your site. See, the thing is, you must put them on in a certain way to have the best chance that your answer will come up featured at the top. In a search, Google is not going to tell you exactly how to put on the questions. But if you watch carefully enough, like I and other marketers have, you can have a pretty good idea of how to do it.

[00:06:36] Now, unless you're really good at coding, this would be a time when you would want to get someone that is actually good at coding to put the material on your site. So you come up with the questions and answers and the coding person has a special way. They put them on your site. That just screams out to Google that you are now a player in their game.

[00:07:02] All right. So let's get into how to do it.

[00:07:05] And by the way, the technical term for what we're talking about is a featured snippet. And if you hired someone to do this and they don't know what a featured snippet is, we'll hire somebody else that does. OK. Now, the simple idea is that you provide the question and answer and they put it on your site in a featured snippet way to please Google. That's the bottom line here.

[00:07:31] All right. Now, also, when I say please Google, I mean, please Google technically. You should always be writing and producing content to please the visitor. No longer is it acceptable to just play games with content to try to trick Google that went out the window years ago. All right. Let's get into it. According to search engine news, when you're picking your question, you must word it the same way a person would say it out loud when asking another person. This is one of the important keys to featured snippets success. And this goes back to what I've been harping on for 20 years. Keyword research. I highly suggest you listen to Episode one, which is basics about keyword research. And then Episode one hundred and thirty that talks about voice search. See, that's more natural way. People are talking to their devices to do searches and to find an episode. You just go to screwthecommute.com and then the number slash one the numeral don't put o n e any and ends screwthecommute.com/130.

[00:08:52] You want to highly concentrate on voice search and how people talk searches rather than type them. So take the questions you get and start your keyword research to find the most popular ways people are phrasing your questions. And then when you find it, we're gonna call this your top level question. The most popular way people are asking about the stuff that you do. Then you want a very precise and quick answer, no more than a sentence or two. You got that precise and quick answer, no more than a sentence or two.

[00:09:36] Now, after that, you can dig into the details a little bit more. Just don't violate the precise part of this and run off at the mouth for the first part of your answer. This is the kiss of death for you to get featured. It's got to be short and sweet. Then as you continue on with your answer, you can give statistics, establish your credibility and go deeper into the answer if you want.

[00:10:05] Then you can go into the people. Also ask questions where you can develop other questions people are asking or should be asking. OK. Now, it's also important how you set up your page so you can have a headline to your page, which could have keywords in it. That's OK. Then you put what are called drop links to the questions. Now, these are links at the top of the page that take a person directly to the question that interest them. That's further down the page. Those are called drop links are dropping a person down the page and you can have a call to action at the bottom of the page. And without overdoing it, you can have links to your products and services and the answers. OK. Now the techie part. All right. I'm going to have a link to Google's exact page telling you about this. I'll have it in the show notes. Besides featured snippet, which is what shows up on your search results. The code is called the FAQ schema. Again, that's the techie stuff. And directly from Google's page, it says a frequently asked question page contains a list of questions and answers pertaining to a particular topic. Properly marked up. And that's with this code stuff. Frequently asked questions, page may, you know, not for sure, but may be eligible to have a rich result. That's the top part of the page where you get featured on Search. And then also an action on the Google assistant. That's where the home device for Google.

[00:11:59] So somebody might you might show up as the answer to a question on the Google assistant. And then all of this can help your site reach the right users. Now, I could go on for another half hour talking about the coding to make this happen and where to put it. But that's your tech, his job. You need to do your research and develop your questions and answers, as I've outlined. Now, there's no guarantee Google is going to feature you, but most people that do this correctly get more action than they would have had they not done it. And usually if you do this correctly, you'll get traffic from this. Again, no guarantees. That's the way it is with Google. Now, if you want my help in this and a myriad of other things, it takes to be successful online. Check out my mentor program at greatInternetmarketingtraining.com.
